Diving Yonaguni Monument in Japan
Have you ever heard of ?
The Yonaguni Monument is a rectangular, stacked pyramid-like formation that’s hiding beneath the waves off the coast of Japan’s Ryukyu Islands.
Some believe it’s the remains of a long-lost Pacific civilization. Others think the site is a natural formation.
Curious divers can take the plunge and decide for themselves.

How To Dive The Yonaguni Monument in Japan
The Yonaguni monument depth is surprisingly shallow. The top terrace is only 5 m below the surface. and the bottom of the main pyramid is around 25 m.
However, currents can be very strong here, so being an advanced diver with at least 100 logged dives is the usual recommendation.
Sou-Wes Diving and Aloha Divers Okinawa organize dive trips to the Yonaguni monument.
A great way to extend this trip and explore more of Japan is to combine it with snorkeling with a Giant Salamander and diving with hammerheads in Mikomoto.
We hope your travels take you in this direction very soon.
Until then - keep exploring!
