Lady Elliot Island

If you’re looking for some of the best snorkeling and diving spots on the Great Barrier Reef, this is the place for you.

Nature’s calendar has blessed this island with a variety of wildlife.

Whether it’s turtle nesting and hatching season, the humpback whale migration, or the peak manta ray season, there’s always a reason to visit this beautiful island.

While there is so much to see here, the main attraction is swimming with giant manta rays.

They can be seen feeding around the island throughout the year but aggregate in larger numbers during the winter months.

These giant kites of the sea are the world’s largest ray, with a wing span of up to 23 feet (7 meters).

Lady Elliot Island is not just a haven beneath the waves. Above, the island's shores are home to a variety of bird life.

The red-tailed tropicbird graces the skies with its distinctive calls and mesmerizing aerial displays. This sanctuary serves as a vital nesting ground, where seabirds find solace and safety amidst the vast ocean.

The island is only accessible by plane, scenic flights depart daily from Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast.
