Hi!
It’s time to get your Adventure Fix, your weekly injection of inspiration to help you live your most badass life. If you enjoy it, share it with your friends.
Let’s do this
ADVENTURE FILM
The Alpinist
Photo: Peter Mortimer
When Alex Honnold was asked who impresses him the most, his answer was Marc-André Leclerc.Marc had always been an under the radar kinda guy. He would go out and do his crazy alpine soloing without a camera or a partner.
In this film, we can get a peek into his incredible life and climbs. Even if mountain sports aren’t your thing, I would still recommend watching it. As one commenter said, “This is definitely not just about a climber and climbing but a great deal more than that.”It has been on Netflix for a little while, but now it’s streaming for free, no subscription needed, at DocumentaryMania. Watch it here.
SCUBA DIVING
Diving Palau’s Bumphead Parrotfish Aggregation
The ocean holds many mysteries that are slowly being revealed to us land dwellers. One of these magical discoveries is Palau’s bumphead parrotfish spawning aggregations. Each month, just before the new moon, massive groups of parrotfish gather near the reef in the shallows. As the excitement builds up, their bumps, cheeks and tails turn white, and stripes appear across their bodies.
The fish then head to deeper water, with males head-butting each other, probably competing for mating privileges. Then, groups of frantic males chase the females up to the shallows, where they release white clouds of you know what in the water like fireworks. Crazy, right?

Go Cave Paddling in Croatia
Photo: Facing Waves TV
In this video, a group of NRS team paddlers head to Croatia’s countryside to explore the spectacular river valleys. While these guys are pros, local guides offer whitewater kayaking trips for people with zero experience.
One of the unique attractions in the area is a maze of caves that time has sculpted into the mountainside. The guide show the crew a cave that is hidden behind a waterfall just off the river. The cave is filled with out of this world rock formations and plenty of siphons to swim through.
Croatia is a true paradise for adventure junkies. This is just one of the many unique experiences this country has to offer. Check out other active vacation ideas in Croatia here.
BIKE PACKING
3 Day Solo Bikepacking Across the Oregon High Desert
Photo: Chad Lubinski
In this video, Chad Lubinski takes us along for a 3 day backpacking adventure. It was his longest cycling trip to date and he decided to go it alone.Chad’s goal was to see if his backpacking skills would translate into a successful bikepacking trip. His route of choice to test his theory was the Central Oregon Backcountry Explorer, a 150 mile trail that traverses the Ochoco mountain range. The twisty dirt and gravel roads took him through pine forests, volcanic landscapes and the Painted Hills. Check out this video to see how a backpacking noob handles the rain, snow and mud on two wheels. Maybe it will even inspire you to take on your own biking adventure!
