The Gillespie Pass Circuit is a challenging hike in New Zealand’s Mount Aspiring National Park. The trail is rough and steep, but is also wildly rewarding with stunning views of mountains, crystal clear streams, an impossibly blue lake, and waterfalls.

According to the Department of Conservation, it is considered an advanced tramping track and is only suitable for people with moderate to high level backcountry skills and experience, navigation and survival skills are required.

If you are up for the challenge, check out this article by Sonia Saxe. She tells how to get your hands on backcountry hut tickets, trailhead logistics, when to go, and safety precautions.

In this video, Andrew Muse and his friends set off on a multi-day adventure in Alaska. They paddled the Kenai River, a glacial stream that flows 85 miles from the Kenai Lake into the Cook Inlet.

Their vessel of choice were inflatable paddleboards. As expected from this part of the world, it was cold and rainy most of the time some dry suits were a must.

The 3 day trip took them through the epic landscapes of pure Alaskan wilderness. It wasn’t all blissful paddling though, they tackled challenging Class III rapids, high seas and strong winds.

TOGETHER WITH DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Come Face-to-Face With Humpbacks at the Silver Bank

Every year between January and April, over 3,000 North Atlantic humpback whales come to the world’s largest mating & calving grounds, the Silver Bank of the Dominican Republic.

This marine sanctuary is famous for its close in water encounters with these gentle giants. Here, professional guides use a passive approach where snorkelers simply float and watch, allowing the curious whales to control the interaction.

Dominican Republic is the second largest and most diverse Caribbean country, situated just two hours south of Miami, less than four hours from New York and eight hours from most European cities. It is a destination like no other, with astounding nature and tons of adventure opportunities, it deserves a place on your bucket list.

In this video, Kevin Frias, an avid cyclist, takes his friend Nolan, an experienced backpacker, on his first bikepacking trip.

For their first ride together they went on a 106 mile mostly off-road adventure through the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest of Wisconsin.

Before this trip, Nolan’s longest ride was about 10 miles. Bikepacking can seem intimidating at first but once you get going it is hard to stop.
