Hey Explorer,

  • Cruises: New Zealand’s Fiordland

  • Cycling: The Black Hole Trail

NATURAL WONDERS

Campo de Piedra Pómez

Argentina’s Campo de Piedra Pómez is a surreal and otherworldly landscape made up of an expansive field of white pumice stone formations.

These unique geological formations were created by volcanic activity millions of years ago. Over time, wind erosion has sculpted the pumice stone into an array of shapes, ranging from smooth, undulating waves to jagged, unique figures.

The striking contrast of the stark white stones against the deep blue sky and the surrounding desert landscape adds to the dramatic beauty of Campo de Piedra Pómez.

This remote and relatively untouched area is a hidden gem for adventure travelers and photographers alike. The region’s dry climate and high altitude create a challenging environment, but those who make the journey are rewarded with one of Argentina's most unique and awe-inspiring landscapes.

ADVENTURE CRUISES

The Ultimate Fiordland Cruise

Photo: Doug Gimesy

We’re the kind of people who go all in, so when we discovered Heritage Explorers' 'All of the Fiords' cruise, we knew we had to share it with you.

While other cruises might offer a 5-day journey with a glimpse of New Zealand’s stunning fiords, this itinerary is the ultimate 10-day adventure. It takes you deep into the country’s remote, ice-carved mountains, lush forests, and the breathtaking fiords of Fiordland.

Fiordland National Park is known for its awe-inspiring, vast landscapes, untouched wilderness, and unique wildlife, including Bottlenose Dolphins, Fiordland Crested Penguins, and New Zealand Fur Seals.

Here, mist-shrouded waterfalls, streams, rivers, and fiords unveil dramatic mountain peaks and tranquil valleys. Most of Fiordland's sounds can only be reached by sea, making them some of the most secluded areas on New Zealand’s mainland.

If you’re an experienced mountain biker looking for a technical trail, Slovenia’s Black Hole Trail might be for you.

The Black Hole trail is the world’s only underground enduro trail. For 6 miles (10 km) you’ll descend over 460 feet (140 meters) by riding through 5 levels of the former mine.
