WILDLIFE ENCOUNTERS
Searching for Laikipia’s Black Leopards
Perhaps you have a few safaris under your belt and you’ve seen some leopards before, but have you ever seen a black leopard?
Once believed to be nonexistent in Africa, melanistic leopards have been found living in Kenya’s Laikipia plateau.
While there are a handful of these dark leopards living in the area, one named Giza has become comfortable being around safari jeeps. She was the first black leopard to be photographed in Africa without using a camera trap.
Catching a glimpse of Giza’s amber eyes and the stunning rosettes of her dark pelt is high on many wildlife photographers’ bucket lists.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its own reward.”
